The Fair’s Fascinating History
The Naperville Riverwalk Fine Art Fair is a juried show sponsored by the Naperville Art League. Now in its 32nd year, the inaugural event included a reenactment of the Georges Seurat painting A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte. The Naperville Art League spent months gathering props, creating intricate costumes, and planning a recreation of the painting at Centennial Beach in Naperville. The event was an overwhelming success, and plans emerged to continue celebrating art every September. Today the show is known as one of the best juried art shows in the country.
