For breakfast or lunch, Benny’s Place can’t be beat. Open seven days a week from 7 AM until 3 PM, Benny’s offers affordable American-style dishes that appeal to the whole family. Dine in a bright, airy open space at tables and chairs (no booths). Portion sizes are generous and the food is homemade, just like Grandma’s. No reservations are necessary, but Benny’s is a popular destination, especially for breakfast. Arrive early if you don’t want to wait.


2. Famous Dave’s Legendary Pit Bar-B-Que, 2440 US-34, Oswego

Hit up Famous Dave’s when you want slow-smoked BBQ meat so tender it falls off the bone. The first thing that greets you when you walk through the door is the sweet smell of BBQ that permeates this casual family restaurant. Have a seat at one of the checkered tablecloth tables and get ready to get down and dirty with your choice of BBQ ribs, fried chicken, spicy wings, BBQ nachos or any one of several home style dishes. Founder Dave Anderson is the most awarded BBQ pitmaster in history so you know your appetite is in good hands. Open Sunday through Thursday from 11 AM to 9 PM and Friday and Saturday from 11 AM to 10 PM.

Self-described contemporary American soul food is the star attraction at Kiss My Dish Soul Kitchen where every dish is “bursting with flava.” The contemporary dining area features a soothing neutral palette of grays and beiges. Comfy upholstered booths line the walls with table and chair seating in the middle. Menu items include hot collard green dip, fried catfish, baked macaroni and cheese and sweet potatoes. With stick-to-your-ribs food like this, no patron ever leaves hungry! Open Tuesday through Sunday during dinner hours. Open Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 9 PM and 2 to 7 PM, respectively.


4. Oswego Family Restaurant, 69 Main Street, Oswego

Wondering where everybody disappears to when hunger hits? It’s likely you’ll find them enjoying home style cooking at Oswego Family Restaurant. This cozy converted diner specializes in breakfast lunch and dinner, not to mention flavorful coffee and rich, homemade desserts you can’t deny yourself — and shouldn’t! Reservations aren’t necessary, but if you have someplace to be after dining, you can make reservations for your family or group. Everyday there’s a daily special and soup. It’s no wonder Oswego Family Restaurant is dubbed the place “where family and friends meet to eat.”
