St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner – and we have the inside scoop on the best local parades and events to attend! Get ready to dress in green and join in the festivities as communities across the area celebrate St. Patrick's Day! From lively St. Paddy’s Day parades to local 5K running events and fun leprechaun scavenger hunts, there’s plenty of ways to celebrate the holiday!

Naperville Sunrise Rotary's St. Paddy's Day 5K  

On March 15th at 8:00 AM, join Naperville Sunrise Rotary for their St. Paddy’s Day 5K race! This event is just one of the many ways the Naperville Sunrise Rotary Club supports children and families. Each year, thousands of dollars are raised to give back to outstanding local initiatives. This year's race will benefit three charities: Fry Family YMCA, KidsMatter, and the Grow Wellness Foundation. You can find parking early near Centennial Beach, 500 Jackson Ave, Naperville, IL 60540. Everyone is welcome, regardless of age or running speed, to participate in this enjoyable 5K event.

West Suburban Irish – Naperville St. Patrick's Day Parade  

Join the West Suburban Irish at their annual St. Patrick’s Day parade in Downtown Naperville on Saturday, March 15th at 10:00 am! Since 1993, this beloved local tradition has united thousands in celebration of Irish culture and community spirit. Bring the whole family to enjoy a festive event that has captured the hearts of Naperville for over three decades, filled with vibrant displays, lively performances, and a joyful atmosphere. The parade kicks off at Ogden Ave and Mill Street (near Naperville North High School) and concludes at Webster and Porter (near Naperville Central High School).

Plainfield Hometown Irish Parade

Get ready for Plainfield's St. Patrick's Day festivities in its Historic Downtown on March 16th! The celebration kicks off with the PaddyDay Mile at 12:30pm, starting on Lockport Street in the heart of downtown. Runners will have 20 minutes to complete the one-mile course, with the winner earning a special spot in the parade! Registration is $25 per participant.

Need a fun thing to do with the kiddos before the parade? Did you know they have a Bike Rodeo? You can decorate your bike for St. Paddy's Day and enter it! Meet at 11:30am in the Plainfield Central High School parking lot. Winners of the Bike Decorating Contest will be announced at 12:45pm. Register HERE

The main parade begins at 1:00pm, winding through Commercial Street, Illinois Street, Lockport Street, and James Street. Bring the little ones for free face painting in front of State Farm on Lockport Street!

Yorkville St. Patrick's Day Celebration

Join the city of Yorkville for their annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration on Saturday, March 15th! There will be music, food, and many activities hosted at several of Yorkville’s restaurants and businesses.  

The 9th Annual Run S.O.B. Run 5K starts at 9am at Southbank Original BBQ. Register solo, with family, or bring your dog! Enjoy live music and a parade afterwards. Early registration is $35 (includes a shirt until March 9) and $40 on race day (shirt not included). Proceeds benefit CASA Kendall County. Register for the race HERE

At 10am, enjoy a brass band performance at the Riverfront Parks Pavilion, followed by the Irish parade at 11am. Don your best green attire and watch the parade from Riverfront Park, starting on Hydraulic Avenue and ending at Route 47.

After the parade, participate in the Clover Court contest at the pavilion, where prizes will be awarded for the best St. Patrick’s Day outfits in several categories. Then, explore downtown Yorkville for food, drink specials, and live music at various businesses throughout the day!

 


St. Charles St. Patrick's Parade

Get into the Irish spirit and celebrate the joy of St. Patrick’s Day with the St. Charles community for an unforgettable St. Paddy’s Day parade on March 15th at 2 PM! Gather along Main Street to experience over 70 vibrant parade entries featuring stunning floats, live bands, and an abundance of green. The festivities kick off with the Opening Ceremony at 11 AM, highlighting an array of entertaining bagpipers and talented Irish dancers. The parade will travel down Main Street, starting at 6th Street and concluding at 4th Avenue

To add to the excitement, participate in the Shamrock Hunt! Explore downtown St. Charles within the parade route and search for 10 hidden shamrocks. Take a selfie in front of each shamrock you find and submit your form for a chance to win one of three pots of gold, each valued at $300!



These events and parades will bring people of all ages to come together to sport their greenest outfits and enjoy the festive atmosphere. So gather your loved ones and prepare to create some fun memories while taking part in these cheerful traditions.
