Fall into the Halloween Spirit in Chicago’s Western Suburbs
Fall is finally here! Are you looking forward to the autumn leaves, the fall breeze, and Halloween cookies? It’s fun to watch the seasons change, but it’s even more fun to grab the family and do something exciting. There is an array of family-friendly events taking place this Fall around the western suburbs of Chicago.
There were so many to choose from, but here are 7 fun events to check out!
Pumpkin Fest at Cosley Zoo | Wheaton
Nestled on five acres, Cosley Zoo is home to native Illinois wildlife as well as farm animals. During the fall season, they offer a special event that takes place during the entire month of October called “Pumpkin Fest”. Enjoy the colors of the season, take a look at all the different animals, and pick out the most perfect pumpkins! They have pumpkins, gourds, apples, corns stalks, cider, and straw bales that are available for purchase.
Admission is included with your general admission entry ticket and all individuals will need a reserved ticket. Walk-up tickets are not available.
Sonny Acres Farm | West Chicago
It’s spooky season at Sonny Acres Farms! They offer fun attractions and amusements such as jumping pillow, day trail, parakeet encounter, and a petting zoo. Take a stroll through the haunted barn or travel down the scary, haunted trail. Don’t forget to check out the awesome farm fresh store that is filled with fresh produce, donuts, sweets, and seasonal items. Find the perfect pumpkin to bring back home!
Sonny Acres Farm is open from 10AM to 6PM Tuesday through Thursday, 10AM to 10PM on Friday and Saturday, and 10AM to 8PM on Sunday.
Pumpkin Fest at Siegel’s Cottonwood Farm | Lockport
Celebrating 30 years of fun on the farm, Siegel’s Cottonwood Farm offers affordable fun for all ages! They are a 4th generation family farm that is actually a real operating family farm year-round. Explore their famous ten-acre corn maze and enjoy the various attractions. Some of the fun attractions include Lexi’s Jumbo Jumpin’ Pillows, The Wizzer, Scrap Yard Shout Out, and the U-Pick Pumpkin Field.
After a long, fun-filled day, make sure to pick up some delicious food on the farm. Stop by Captain Dave’s Grub Gallery for a basket of cheese curds or stop by Kyle’s Corn Crib Café for a nice slice of pizza.
Monster Madness | Lisle
Ghosts, goblins, and ghouls, oh my! Monster Madness is a fun-filled fair taking place on October 24th that is filled with games, animals, and goodies. Each admission is $15 per child and includes 20 games, caution tape maze, Halloween Bingo, wagon rides, 3 corn-filled sensory tables, a craft station, two photo ops, and a pumpkin pie. There will also be a concession stand selling caramel apples, popcorn, and refreshments.
Families must pre-register each child for a time slot. The time slots include 12PM to 2PM, 2:30PM to 4:30PM, and 5PM to 7PM. No walk-ups allowed.
All Hallow’s Eve Outdoor Adventure | Burr Ridge
On October 31st, enjoy trick or treating in a non-scary environment outdoors at Harvester Park playground! All Hallow’s Eve Outdoor Adventure offers fun, kid-friendly activities including enchanted playground lights and Halloween stations featuring fun characters and prizes. This event is for children ages 1 to 11 (with an adult) and pre-registration is required. Individuals not pre-registered will not be allowed to enter.
Johansen Farms: Children’s Zoo and Fall Festival | Bolingbrook
Johansen Farms Children’s Zoo and Fall Festival is a seasonal event that runs from the end of September until the end of October. You only have to pay one admission price per person in order to have access to all of their fun attractions. Enjoy everything including petting zoo animals, hayrides, pony rides, slides, mini golf, and much more!
There is plenty of free parking, and there is no charge to visit the open market area and the pumpkin patch. They have delicious food, drinks and goodies including their famous apple cider doughnuts and their fabulous pie!
Howl O’Ween Dog Parade | Geneva
Do you enjoy dressing up your dog for Halloween, but have nowhere to show off their fabulous costume? Check out the Howl O’Ween Dog Parade on October 24th in Geneva at Peck Farm Park! This event is free and fun for the entire family. They will award prizes to the funniest, most creative, and scariest costumes. Pre-registration is required, so find the perfect outfit for your furry friend and register for a spot soon!
