Chicagoland rings in the new year with a strong supply of New Year’s Eve festivities aimed at adults. Our Live and Love Local john greene agents, however, know that homes in Chicago’s western suburbs are also close to NYE events that focus on kids. We updated a 2019 post so you can make your plans to celebrate 2020. Is buying a home in your new year plans? Contact us to get started!

DuPage Children’s Museum, Naperville: Bubble Bash 2019

DuPage Children’s Museum in Naperville offers families a chance to celebrate New Year’s Eve during daylight hours on December 31 from 9 AM to 12 PM. The event will feature live music by the award-winning children’s music duo Wendy & DB  and a DJ from Bach to Rock Naperville. Kids can participate in several different activities, including DIY confetti party poppers, making their own wearable art, building bubble wands, and more. The museum will ring in the new year at noon, so kids don’t have to stay up late to celebrate the start of the new decade. Purchase tickets for $20 per person for members and $25 per person for non-members.

Naperville: Celebration at the Carillon

The Millennium Carillon celebrates New Year’s Eve twice. Located on the Naperville Riverwalk, the Carillon will literally ring in the new year in the early evening and again at midnight. A carillon concert for the youngest revelers will take place at 5:30 PM with a New Year’s Eve countdown starting at 6 PM. The early celebration will offer hot chocolate, glow sticks, and handbells. Stay up late for the 11:30 PM concert ending with all the bells tolling at midnight. Bundle up and bring the blankets, chairs, Thermoses, and cookies! Both concerts are free.

Brookfield Zoo, Brookfield: Zoo Year’s Eve

Brookfield Zoo provides a festive way to spend New Year’s Eve with Zoo Year’s Eve. Starting at 6 PM, head to the zoo to enjoy games, DJ music, prizes and more, along with a New Year’s Eve countdown at 8 PM. At Hamill Family Play Zoo, located within Brookfield Zoo, younger kids can craft noisemakers and ring in the new year with a countdown that also starts at 8 PM. Hamill Family Play Zoo is more suitable for kids 6 and under. There’s no extra charge for Zoo Year’s Eve. Families can participate in the festivities with the regular price of zoo admission.

New Philharmonic Orchestra, Glen Ellyn: New Year’s Eve Concert

The New Philharmonic Orchestra New Year’s Eve Concert offers an enchanting way to welcome the new year. This year’s concerts, which take place in Belushi Performance Hall at McAninch Arts Center at 2 PM, 5:30 PM, and 9 PM, give kids and adults an opportunity to hear impressive performances of movie favorites, waltzes, and more. The concert will feature solo performances by mezzo-soprano Annie Rosen. Tickets range from $67 to $77.
