10 Local Events to Celebrate the End of Summer!

The summer sunshine and warm weather are always a treat. It is the perfect season to enjoy the beautiful weather with family and friends, dine on an outdoor patio, or stop for some ice cream. For some, it is a time to slow down and stay present and for others it is a time to fit in as many fun adventures as possible. Summer events bring people together, whether that be going to your local farmers market, fest, or outdoor concert, summer offers countless ways to make lasting memories. So as the end of summer approaches, we have some fun local events for you to make sure you end your summer off with a bang!  

Naper Settlement Farmers Market – Aug 27

Naperville has not one, but TWO Farmers Markets to get you through the end of summer. Naper Settlement Farmers Market is every Tuesday until September 17, from 3–7 PM (should weather permit). Check out a wide variety of local vendors and assortment of goods from fresh fruit to coffee and candles. Enjoy your evening with live music from 4-7 PM, set against the picturesque backdrop of historic Naper Settlement! Get a glimpse of the event here!

Naperville Farmers Market –  Aug 31

The Naperville Farmers Market near 5th Avenue Train Station in Downtown Naperville occurs every Saturday from 7 AM–12 PM through October. Featured vendors include Brit’s Sweet Treats, Boa Acai, Creek Side Market Garden, Ellis Family Farms, Lang’s Cookies, Modest Coffee, and more! Last Fling – Aug 30 – Sept 2 

Last Fling in downtown Naperville is a FREE family friendly outdoor festival that takes place over Labor Day weekend. This event features live music, food trucks, classic games, carnival rides, and other activities on Jackson Avenue along the Riverwalk! Proceeds from the event go to local nonprofits. We are a proud sponsor of this wonderful community event and our team is looking forward to walking in the parade! Don’t miss Naperville Jaycees' four-day end-of-summer street party in Downtown Naperville.

Aurora Water Lantern Festival – Aug 24, Sept 21 

Fans of "Tangled" won't want to miss this enchanting event at RiverEdge Park! Immerse yourself in a magical evening of music and delicious treats from food trucks while crafting your own unique lantern. As dusk falls around 7 PM, join fellow attendees in launching your creations onto the water. Watch in awe as hundreds of lanterns flicker and glow, creating a breathtaking spectacle you'll cherish forever. This unforgettable experience brings the movie's most iconic scene to life right before your eyes!

Naperville Food Truck Festival – Sept 7

Attention food lovers! You won’t want to miss the Naperville Food Truck Festival. It is exactly how it sounds… only better! Located at Naper Settlement in the heart of Downtown Naperville, enjoy a selection from 20+ of Chicagoland’s BEST food trucks! Other features include live music entertainment, a Mega bubble Show, beer/wine garden and a local vendor village featuring face painters, a balloon artist & more.

The Promenade Bolingbrook Street Market – Aug 22

This summer street market is fun for all ages! Enjoy a variety of vendors as well as live music! Featured vendors include Your Sweet Avenue, D&M Wood Crafts, Art by Donna and Mike, Maple Hill Farm, Let it Wick Candle & Soap Inc, The Cookie Maker, Rosie's Pretty Jewels and so much more! The Street Market will be held in the interior streets of The Promenade from 4–9 PM. This is a must-visit!

Summer Concert Series with Port City Rockers – Aug 31 

This Summer Concert Series will be from 6–8 PM at The Promenade Bolingbrook.  Make Thursday night special with live music featuring Port City Rockers – a classic rock band, perfect for all ages. Turn it into a date night or a family fun night by dining at the Promenade's delicious restaurants. Savor Thursday specials at Krafted Burger + Tap, Bar Louie, or enjoy drink deals at Star Cinema and Grill. Downtown Aurora Farmer’s Market – Aug 24, Aug 31, Sept 14, Sept 21

Every Saturday, the market features fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables, decadent baked goods and pastry items, a selection of local food trucks and vendors (including Aurora's famous Dick's Mini Donuts), delicious coffee, one-of-a-kind artisan items and more! This market will be every Saturday until Oct 1st, so you have the rest of August and all of September to come check it out!

7th Annual Car & Truck Show Fundraiser – Sept 6 

Head out to Downtown Oswego from 5–9 PM for an exciting evening of cool cars and family fun! The annual car show, organized by the Public Safety Cadets, offers something for everyone. Enjoy delicious eats from food trucks, let the kids explore awesome vehicles at the touch-a-truck exhibit, and try your luck at winning great raffles and prizes. Best of all, admission is FREE! Your support helps fund the Cadets' Unit and their trip to the National Competitive Conference every other year. Stop by to admire some amazing vehicles and have a great time for a good cause!

RUMOURS – Fleetwood Mac Tribute Show – Sept 7 

Calling all Fleetwood Mac fans! This tribute show at Venue 1012 in Oswego from 6–9 PM will truly be memorable!  RUMOURS was formed in Los Angeles, CA, during the summer of 2012. Since then, they have toured across North America, crafting a performance that pays attention to every detail. Recreating the band’s iconic image from 1975 to 1987, they use period-accurate equipment and costumes, along with precise character portrayals and musical renditions. Experience the enchantment of Fleetwood Mac once more with RUMOURS! Tickets are priced as follows: $15 for advance purchases, $20 at the door, $10 for active military personnel, and children aged 12 and under can enter for free. Lawn chairs and/or blankets are recommended!
